Healing Through Nature and Connection
At Project Positive Change, we recognize the profound healing power of nature, especially for veterans, first responders, and those navigating PTSD, anxiety, or life transitions. Dirt Therapy is an integrative program that connects individuals with the earth through hands-on gardening, regenerative farming practices, and mindful outdoor experiences.
Why Dirt Therapy?
Working with soil is more than just planting seeds—it’s a therapeutic practice that nurtures the mind, body, and spirit. Studies have shown that direct contact with soil can improve mental well-being, reduce stress, and even enhance mood through beneficial microbes found in the earth. Our Dirt Therapy program fosters:
Stress Relief & Grounding – Engaging with soil and plants promotes a sense of calm and balance, helping to regulate the nervous system.
Community & Purpose – Participants connect with like-minded individuals, building friendships and a shared sense of accomplishment.
Physical Wellness – Gentle movement, fresh air, and the natural rhythms of working with plants contribute to overall health.
Mindfulness & Healing – Nature-based practices support emotional processing, fostering resilience and inner peace.
Who We Serve
This program is specially designed for veterans, first responders, and individuals recovering from trauma or seeking holistic healing. Whether you're looking for a way to reconnect with nature, manage stress, or simply find peace in the outdoors, Dirt Therapy offers a welcoming space to grow—both personally and in the garden.
How to Get Involved
Join us for hands-on gardening, seasonal planting projects, and guided workshops that incorporate mindfulness, permaculture principles, and the therapeutic benefits of nature. No prior gardening experience is necessary—just a willingness to get your hands in the soil and connect with the earth.
